Dragon*Con has a unique form of evening entertainment called Drums on the Pool Deck. People gather on the pool deck with a variety of percussion instruments. Drums, blocks, shakers, ash trays, slippery when wet signs... If it makes a noise, it's represented at the drum circle. The event is totally organic. Participants come and go, adding their sound to the cacophony for a time, or trading instruments with others. The atmosphere is very base and tribal.

Richard Biggs and Jason Carter were both playing drums when I arrived. It's great to see the guests like this: just having fun and mingling with the other participants.

Richard eventually relinquished his drum and began dancing. Despite Richard's encouragement, Jason seemed more interested in his drum than the dance floor. He even turned it upside down and tried to play it as a wind instrument!

Caught up in the spirit of the moment and his taunting of Jason, Richard was actually undoing his pants at one point.

Um... I don't think that's the sort of dance Jason was looking for.

With his attire back in proper order, Richard was finally able to coax Jason onto the dance floor.

It turns out that Jason had as much fun dancing as he did drumming!

After a while, Richard and Jason were joined on the pool deck by Stephen Austin and David Allen Brooks.
