Novelizations

cover In the Beginning (Babylon 5)
by Peter David
Based on the screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski, this book does an good job of capturing the drama of the first TV movie, which chronicles the Earth-Minbari War.

cover Thirdspace (Babylon 5)
by Peter David
Based on J. Michael Straczynski's screenplay for the second TV movie, this book is a quick read that does a good job of clearly presenting scenes that were occasionally chaotic and convoluted on screen.

cover A Call to Arms (Babylon 5)
by Robert Sheckley
Based on the screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski, this retelling of the fourth TV movie seems a bit rushed at the end and is probably the weakest of the three novelizations. However, the added interractions between Galen and the Drazi are entertaining.

Scripts

Day of the Dead (Babylon 5)
by Neil Gaiman

"Day of the Dead" is the only fifth season Babylon 5 script written by someone other than Joe Straczynski. This publication includes the script as it left Neil Gaiman's hands, complete with unfilmed or unused scenes and Zooty dialog that was rewritten by Straczynski when Penn and Teller (who does not speak onscreen) were cast as Rebo and Zooty. Gaiman liberally annotates his script with footnotes, and Straczynski provides an introduction.
