Volume 2 of Echoes of All Our Conversations was released on Wednesday 11 April 2012. The six-volume series contains interviews with the cast and crew of Babylon 5 conducted at the time it was in production. The featured “cover” actor for Volume 2 is Bruce Boxleitner. This volume includes:

Echoes of All Our Conversations to be released on 14 March 2012

The Babylon 5 Books team is beginning a new series titled Echoes of All Our Conversations. This is a six-volume series containing interviews with the cast and crew of Babylon 5 conducted at the time it was in production. Each volume features one “cover” actor and includes a number of bonus features focusing on this actor. The Volume 1 featured actor is Peter Jurasik, and the volume includes:

370 pages with 24 interviews and 25 never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photos

Straczynski to Write for Before Watchmen

DC Comics has announced it’s controversial Before Watchmen project, and J. Michael Straczynski will be writing two of the stories. The project, beginning in the Summer of 2012, will feature the following miniseries, published weekly:

Rorschach (4 issues) – Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: Lee Bermejo
Minutemen (6 issues) – Writer/Artist: Darwyn Cooke
Comedian (6 issues) – Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: J.G. Jones
Dr. Manhattan (4 issues) – Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artist: Adam Hughes
Nite Owl (4 issues) – Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artists: Andy and Joe Kubert
Ozymandias (6 issues) – Writer: Len Wein. Artist: Jae Lee
Silk Spectre (4 issues) – Writer: Darwyn Cooke. Artist: Amanda Conner

Each comic will include a 2-page Curse of the Crimson Corsair story, and a final Before Watchmen: Epilogue single issue will also be published.

An overview of the project can be found at CBR, along with an interview with JMS focusing on Dr. Manhattan. A second article at The Hollywood Reporter sounds like it may be from the same interview, but focuses more on Nite Owl. JMS has also made a long post on Facebook discussing his reasons for contributing to this project despite the controversy. For those unfamiliar with the situation, original Watchmen scribe Alan Moore is opposed to the project, and some fans feel it is sacrilegious to oppose Moore’s wishes or to cloud the memory of such a seminal work with new material. Straczynski mounts an excellent defense in the Facebook post linked above.

The Chronologies of Babylon 5 – New Cover and Ending Soon

Across Time and Space: The Chronologies of Babylon 5 has been re-released with a new white cover by the Babylon 5 scripts team. This is similar to how Artifacts from Beyond the Rim was released, with both a black cover to match the original 15-volume Babylon 5 script series and a white cover to match the more recent Asked & Answered and Crusade books. In addition to the white cover (with concept art), the new edition sports a revised layout and one new page of information based on the recently-published unproduced Crusade scripts. Owners of the original green edition can download a PDF of the new page.

After a wait of over three years, Issue 9 of The Twelve was released on Wednesday 01 February 2012. The cover reads, “Dashing and Cavalier! The Blue Blade – A Swashbuckling Adventure”. Here is a preview. The first six issues were republished on the same day as a trade paperback titled The Twelve: Volume 1. A reprinting of issues 7 and 8 is also available.

The Adventures of Apocalypse Al Comes to Comics and TV

Do you remember The Adventures of Apocalypse Al, the Straczynski radio serial produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation but never broadcast? MTV Comics will now publish the story as a graphic novel. It will appear digitally online and on tablets and mobile devices in the Spring of 2012 and will be followed by the hard copy version published by MTV Books. Straczynski describes the story as “Monty Python meets the Maltese Falcon en route to the end of the world.”

Straczynski and co-developer Patricia Tallman will follow up the comic with a sequel produced as a live-action webisode series on MTV Geek in the Fall of 2012.

Pat Tallman’s Babylon 5 Multimedia Memoir released 20 September 2011

Pat Tallman’s Babylon 5 Multimedia Memoir was released today, Tuesday 20 September 2011. Published by Publishing 180, the same company behind the Babylon 5 Script Books, this offering includes both Patricia Tallman’s new book, Pleasure Thresholds, and a bonus CD-ROM. The 362-page softcover book is a collection of 330 photographs, documents, and anecdotes by Patricia Tallman relating to her time playing Lyta Alexander on Babylon 5. It includes an introduction by J. Michael Straczynski and is autographed by both Patricia Tallman and Joe Straczynski. The CD-ROM contains nine video clips and two audio features – an interview with Patrica Tallman conducted by Joe Straczynski and an uncensored “renegade” audio commentary for “Secrets of the Soul” by Pat Tallman and Joe Straczynski that can be synced up with program if you have the DVD. A collectible postcard with Lyta’s “pleasure threshold” quote is also included.
