After a long wait, Crusade: What the Hell Happened, Volume 1 will be released on Wednesday 25 August 2010 at 10:00 a.m. PT. The Babylon 5 Scripts Team has excavated a warehouse full of Crusade records, cherry-picking enough material to fill four volumes instead of the previously-planned three.
The four-volume set will include all twelve of J. Michael Straczynski’s Crusade scripts, including two unproduced scripts, plus the script for “A Call to Arms”. However, unlike the Babylon 5 script books, the Crusade scripts take the back-seat to the wealth of uncovered production information and Straczynski’s introductions and episode commentaries.
As usual, Volume 1 will be on sale for $10.00 off during its first week of release.
Update:
Volume 1 is on sale as of today, Wednesday 25 August 2010. Regularly priced at $39.99, this volume will be sold for $29.99 through 31 August 2010. You can order it from B5books.com.
Volume 1 boasts 402 pages including Straczynski’s revealing introduction, early treatments and promotions scripts designed to sell Crusade, the original drafts of “A Call to Arms” and “Racing the Night” with detailed analysis of the subsequent changes, 76 pieces of concept art, and six pages of artwork showing the evolution of the Excalibur.
